MotherCare: Massage for Pregnancy, Labor and Postpartum

Instructed by Fawn Cook, who is also a doula and childbith educator, this class is a great introduction for licensed massage therapists who are interested in exploring prenatal massage. We will go over techniques for several of the common complaints of pregnancy including low back pain, sciatica, swelling and other issues.

Massage Doula: Massage Support for the Laboring Woman
21 CE hours + Free 3CE Ethics

Instructed by Fawn Cook, who is also a doula and childbith educator, this class is a thorough instruction on prenatal massage techniques which help prepare the mother's body for labor, as well as how to use massage effectively while attending a birth. We will cover stages of labor, the role of a doula, and fabulous techniques to help mom cope with the pain of labor. Students leave this class extremely knowledgeable and ready to attend a birth. 

This is a weekend class package and you may choose to attend a free 3 hour professional ethics class on Friday morning for a total of 24 CE hours.

Orthopedic Massage for the Back, Neck and Shoulders

In this class, students will learn how to effectively reduce pain in clients with a variety of conditions relating to the back, neck and shoulders. We will discuss effective techniques for treating frozen shoulder, military neck and several other ailments. This class is a must for any therapist who is not entirely comfortable with working the neck.

In this class we will cover several techniques to decrease pain associated with lower body muscle tension. We will address a variety of issues including sciatica, frozen hips, and lower back pain. Students will take from this class great stretches and techniques to give maximum results while remaining easy on the therapists body.

Students in the class will get to enjoy a day of giving and receiving spa services. We will cover a variety of wraps and scrubs that can be performed without a wet room or showers, and we will make custom aromatherapy scrubs.

Intro to Reflexology

In this class you will learn the basics of foot reflexology and how the reflex points can relate to the muscles, nerves and other structures in the body. We will cover foot reflex points, whole hand techniques to lesson the strain on the therapist, and money making strategies to help increase the market value of your reflexology session. Students will be able to perform an entire 50 minute foot reflexology session at the end of the course.

Body Mechanics for the Massage Therapist

In this class we will discuss how to save your own body as a massage therapists. Too often massage therapists complain of many injuries from thier work that can easily be averted by these body-saving techniques. We will cover proper stance, alternative methods of pressure, and various other career extending methods. Body Rebalancing
21 CE hours + 3 hour Free ethics class

This 3 day workshop will cover techniques intended to restore symmetry to the body. The body prefers to be in perfect symmetry, so anytime there is a high shoulder or a forward hip, the body will tighten areas to attempt to pull itself back neutral. This creates a great deal of tension, and therefore, pain. In class we will learn to properly identify areas needing attention, as well as a great deal of techniques to get the body back in line. We will also discuss how to maintain good charts on these clients.

Students attending this class have the option of attneding a free 3 hour ethics class on the first morning of the workshop.

Giving Relief to Clients with Sciatica

In this class, students will learn to isolate and release the muscles associated with sciatic pain using techniques that causemimimal to to discomfort. In additioin to hands on therapeutic massage practice, we will cover on the table stretches as well as take home instructions for your clients. These are great techniques to use on runners, desk workers, side sleepers, and prenatal clients as well!

Relieving Carpal Tunnel Pain

Students attending this class will learn the anatomy behind carpal tunnel and psuedo carpal tunnel pain. We will discuss and practice not only the techniques to ease this pain, but also repeat treatment protocols and home instructions for the client.

In this class, students will learn how to work with athletes to maintain proper muscle laxity and help to prevent injuries. We will cover the difference between working with an athlete in training, pre-/post-event, and working during a sport event. This class also covers contraindications as well as the limits fo your scope of practice.

All participants must be licensed or certified therapists, except where indicated.

Payment in full is due to hold your space in any class or vacation event. Class size is limited; all workshops and accommodations are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable if cancelled within 14 days of workshop date. A $75 administrative fee applies transfers, or cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the start of the scheduled workshop. To receive course credit, participants must attend the entire workshop, fully participate, and satisfactorily complete all course requirements.
